What it all is about
Media usually have a particular way of depicting Africa. Over the past decade a variety of new and vibrant media channels have been established, especially online, that show a more diverse and indepth picture of Africa. The platforms are an important way for photographers to show their stories through sequences of images and not only so called newsworthy single images.

Motivation
In this department we aim to develop and strengthen African photography by collaboration and exchange between the various initiatives in the field. We aim to achieve as much exposure fro quality African photography as possible.

Afrique in Visu
HEAD OF DEPARTMENT
Afrique in Visu is an exchange platform around photography in Africa. It was initiated in 2006 in Mali by Jeanne Baptiste Mercier and Ville d'Avray. With one hundred regular contributors – journalists, photographers, historians – in Africa, it is a firsthand archive and a dynamic and creative laboratory around photographic practices in Africa.
